Update about Sister T

Latest Update:

A few months back, we lent $1000 to sister T. The good news her health is better now. The bad news, she left Islam, may Allah guide her and keep all of us on the right path.

Well, at least we did provide help, Alhamdulillah.

Wulaikum asalaam,

Actually, my health has gotten beter in the past week or so. My doctor told me before that what I have may be temporary…and that it’s the result of arthritis after a virus. I was like, “huh???” But the past week and a half, I’ve been feeling about 90%! We did 7 blood tests and they were all negative. Thank G-d! That’s such good news!

Because of that, I can’t apply for disability of course. I’m just so happy to be feeling almost better. I have been exercising and feeling great afterwards.

It looks like I will have to pay you in installments. I will pay $500 by Sept. 1 and then the second part in the middle of October. I may be able to do the second payment sooner, we shall see. But mid October is when the second installment of financial aid occurs.

I should also let you know that I have gone back to being actively Jewish and let go of Islam. It’s not that I don’t think that Islam is beautiful, it’s simply not for me. I’m happy that I got to be part of it, even if for a little while.

Have a wonderfully introspective Ramadan and I will keep in touch.

Was-Salam,

T

Update Aug 24

Things are o.k. I just moved back up north. But still not settled in. We will see when the school monies come in! can finally get things done.

How’s your Ramadan going?

Once again, thank you for the assistance that you gave me when I was still in the Deen. My siblings gave, too and I owe you all, but you have priority. My housing co-op made me do a post dated check for them, so they’re going to get first dibs, then rent. I hope to have your half by next week, G-d willing. I also have a job interview for a nanny position, so send up a prayer for em to get that.

The diagnosis is FINALLY back and I have no auto-immune disorder! Thank G-d. I do have fibromyalgia, which is just a fancy word for chronic pain. Which still is annoying but at least my joints won’t be deteriorating. There’s a blessing in all things.

Ramadan mubarak!

I Was Homeless Too…

This is a comment from a sister about our Warm Winter Drive to help Homeless Muslims:

“Thank you so much for this link [http://bit.ly/saveourfamilies].  I actually spent the past 6 months in a homeless shelter because when I converted, me and my two children were kicked out of my mother’s home.  This place was horrible for me,  they were horrible to me because I was a Muslim.  A convert I know also spent time at the shelter there because he was kicked out of his mother’s house as well.  Before that I spent another 3 months in a Domestic violence shelter because of an abusive marriage.  I wish there was a homeless shelter for Muslims during my time on the streets with my children.  I am in college now and Alhumdilah I am in a stable apartment, I still do not have my kids with me.  Inshallah things will change soon.  I donated some of my zakat to them.”

Salamualaikum,

Sister J

Please also contribute to this drive with donations or a pleasant word so our Muslim Brothers and Sisters have a warm winter this year.

May Allah (SWT) reward you with the sweetest date in Jannah, ameen!
